| Flesh-eating Horses
These horses appear to be normal, except they eat only flesh and have sharp teeth like knives.
The flesh-eating horses appear in the twelve labors of Heracles (often called Hercules). His eighth labor is to fetch these horses from the cruel king Diomedes. Heracles caught the animals and left them in the care of his friend while battling Diomedes. His friend was killed in Heracles's absence and Heracles fed Diomedes to the horses; they became tame after eating their master, and Heracles returns the horses to King Eurystheus. | |
